Subject: Tampico steak
Hi, my name is Laurie. I worked for Luby's in Waco, when I was still in high school in 1979.
I used to eat something called Tampico Steak on the Luann platter. After many years had passed,
I went into a Luby's in Temple, but no one working there remembered that dish. I'm looking for
Luby's recipe.
Thank you,
Laurie
Hello Laurie,
Sorry, I cannot find any mention of Luby’s tampico steak or steak tampico. There are recipes on
the web for tampico steak and steak tampico and chicken tampico, but the sauce recipes are not
consistent and none mention any connection to Luby’s.
I do have a recipe for Luby’s Chicken Enchiladas With Tampico Sauce. You might try the tampico
sauce part of that recipe. See: 02-03-2014
I’ll post this on my site for reader input.

Subject: Chocolat baiser cake
Hello,
In the 1970s, when Bloomingdale's in NYC had its own bakery, they used to
have a cake called "Chocolat baiser". It had chocolate and coffee or mocha
and crunchy (cookie, wafer or meringue) layers and light chocolate frosting.
Have you ever found a recipe for it?
Rebecca
Hello Rebecca,
Sorry, I had no success with this. "Chocolat Baiser" means "chocolate kiss"
in French. While there are some recipes on the web for "chocolat baiser"
(not in English) and many for "chocolate kiss cake", I could not find any
that mentioned Bloomingdale's.
I'll post this for reader input.
