Hi Sheila,

It turns out that the soured milk approach is a pretty common banana bread recipe. Below are one for banana bread and one for banana nut bread.

Phaed

Banana Bread

 Ingredients :
 1/2 c. shortening
 1 c. sugar
 2 eggs
 1 c. mashed bananas
 2 c. flour
 1 tsp. baking soda
 1 tsp. salt
 1 tbsp. vinegar
 1/2 c. milk

 Preparation :
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs. Add bananas. Stir soda and salt
into flour. Stir vinegar into milk. Add these alternately to
creamed mixture. Stir but don't over do. Put into loaf pan. Bake
at 350 degrees about 1 hour (until leaves side of pan).
----------------------------------
  Banana Nut Bread

 Ingredients :
 1/2 c. margarine
 2 c. sugar
 2 eggs
 3 mashed bananas
1 1/2 c. sour milk (3 tbsp. vinegar added to milk)
 1 1/2 tsp. soda
 3 c. flour
 Pinch of salt
 1 c. nutmeats

 Preparation :
Cream sugar and margarine at high speed. Add eggs and beat. Add
bananas and beat. Add sour milk slowly. Add dry ingredients and
nuts. Put in greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
 Makes 2 loaves.

I lost a recipe for a bar that was on the back of either Swan's Down
cake flour or Softasilk cake flour 10-12 years ago,. It was a chocolate
cake bottom with caramel ice cream topping or melted Kraft caramels
(I can't remember for sure), nuts, chocolate chips and maybe canned
milk on the top. The topping went on at the end of baking and was baked
for only a few minutes. It was fabulous. can you help?

  Thanks.

Hi,

The recipe below is the only one that I can find by ingredients. If that's not it, I'll need the exact name of the recipe to do better.

Phaed

  Choco - Caramel Crunch Bars

   Ingredients :
1 pkg. Pillsbury Plus German chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. margarine or butter, softened
   1 egg
  --TOPPING:--
  1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
   1/2 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. caramel ice cream topping
   3 tbsp. flour

   Preparation :
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 13 x 9 inch pan. In
large bowl, combine cake mix, margarine and egg at low speed until
crumbly. Reserve 1 cup crumbs for topping. Press remaining crumb
mixture in prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or
until base is slightly puffy. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and
nuts. Combine caramel topping and flour; pour over nuts. Sprinkle
with reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 20 minutes or

bubble. Cool completely; cut into bars. (Approximately 36 bars.)

Hi BG,

I'm glad you like the site.

Below are recipes for Jello Cheesecake. None of the recipes that I found used two different flavors of Jello. It would be easy for you to add that touch to any of these receipes, though.

Phaed

 Jello Cheesecake

 Ingredients :
2 c. graham crackers, crushed fine
 4 tbsp. sugar
 1/2 to 3/4 c. melted butter, margarine
1 (3 oz.) pkg. lemon Jello
 1 c. hot water
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese
 3/4 c. sugar
 1 tsp. vanilla
1 (9 oz.) container of Cool Whip

 Preparation :
Mix graham crackers with 4 teaspoons of sugar and melted
margarine in bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan. Press down. Add Jello to 1
cup hot water and set aside to cool. Mix together cream cheese, 3/4
cup sugar, and vanilla. Add Jello that is cool but not setting.
Fold in slowly and mix well. Fold in Cool Whip. Put a few crumbs
 on top. Chill in refrigerator.
 ----------------------------------
 Jello Cheesecake

 Ingredients :
1 small box cherry Jello (or any flavor)
 1 c. hot water
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk, chilled
 1 c. white sugar
 2 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese (room
    temperature)
 Graham cracker crust

 Preparation :
Dissolve Jello in 1 cup hot water. Chill until slightly
thickened, then whip. While this is chilling, whip chilled milk.
Add sugar, vanilla and cream cheese. Whip until cheese is smooth.
Add chilled Jello and whip until well blended. Pour onto graham
cracker crust in 9x13 inch pan. Chill until firm.
 ----------------------------------
 Jello Cheesecake

 Ingredients :
 2 2/3 c. graham crackers (about 20 squares crushed)
 1 tbsp. sugar
 1/2 c. butter, melted
Filling:
 1 tsp. vanilla
1 lg. lemon Jello, 6 oz.
 1 c. hot water
 1 c. sugar
1 lg. and 1 sm. cream cheese (must be room temp.)
 1 pt. whipping cream

 Preparation :
Pat graham crackers, 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 cup butter
(melted) into 9x13 glass pan for crust. Beat filling ingredients
until well blended. Set aside and beat 1 pint whipping cream. Then
fold into Jello mixture. Pour over graham crust and refrigerate
overnight. Top with cherry or strawberry pie filling. Sprinkle
 with crumb mixture to decorate.

Hi BG,
