Hello Uncle Phaed,
I searched your cake index but did not find two items I was looking for:
Lady Baltimore Cake (Hough Bakeries in Cleveland used to make them)
Simnel Cake (I read about this in a Catholic magazine about Lent …
apparently they were made on Laetare Sunday, the Fifth Sunday of Lent)
Thanks in advance if you are able to find anything.

Hello Christine,
The Lord Baltimore cake and Lady Baltimore cake recipes are on my site, but I somehow left them off the index. See below for the Lady Baltimore Cake recipe.
I’ll let you know about the simnel cake separately.
Phaed
Lady Baltimore Cake
3 c. sifted cake flour
2 c. sugar
6 egg whites
3/4 c. oleo
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. water
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream oleo and sugar until fluffy.
Combine milk, water and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients and liquid alternately;
beat well. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into batter. Pour into greased cake pans.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 25 minutes. Spread Lady Baltimore filling between layers.
--Lady Baltimore Divinity Icing:--
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
6 tbsp. water
Note: Divide the icing into 2 halves. To one half add:
1 c. chopped raisins
1 c. dates
1 1/2 c. nuts
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
Mix carefully and spread between layers. Spread remaining icing on top and sides of cake.

Hello Christine,
A simnel cake is a type of fruitcake that is popular in the UK, where it is traditionally served on Easter and British Mother’s Day or “Mothering Day.”

Subject: Request For Assistance
Dear Uncle Phaedrus ,
Kindly be of assistance. I would like to buy this meter, EBay
I have failed to get the contact of the seller for a question.
I want to know whether that meter marked 60Hz will work on our 50Hz system in Uganda .
Thanks for all the effort for an answer .
Regards,
Frank
Frank,
I wrote to mspipeandsupply, who is the seller. Wait a few days to see if they reply.
Phaed
Frank,
I got this message from mspipeandsupply: “Please check with your local utility company or a licensed electrician.”
I also wrote to the Elster company itself via the address on their website Elster
to ask about the product. I’ll let you know what I hear.
Phaed
Frank,
I received a reply from Elster. They say that particular meter will not work on your system because it’s a 3 wire system whereas Uganda uses 2 wire, 50 Hz.
They gave an address for their Uganda distributor that you can contact: samuel@_ _ _
