Subject: Chocolate roll
I'd like to find a recipe for a chocolate roll cake that was made by
Adrian's, a Jewish bakery in Queens NY (closed for several years). It was a
jelly roll shape but the dough was like a buttery refrigerator cookie
dough, a bit crumbly, rather than soft cake. It was rolled around a layer of
the dough that was mixed with chocolate and nuts.
The only name I heard it called was chocolate roll. I've never seen anything
else like it. Can you find a recipe?
Thanks,
Andrea
Hello Andrea,
I found several reminisces about Adrian's Jewish Bakery in Bayside, Queens.
However, I found no recipes from there at all, and no particular mention of
their chocolate cake roll. In general, "chocolate rolls" are made with
sponge cake, but that doesn't fit your description, so I have no idea of
what might be similar.
There are chocolate roll recipes on these sites:
Passover Chocolate Roll
Heavenly Chocolate Cake Roll
This book appears to be excellent, and it has a chocolate roll recipe
according to it's index. It might be worth buying. You can get it on their
website or at Amazon.com:

Baking" by Stanley Ginsberg and Norman Berg

Subject: mckenzies petit fours
Hope you can find the recipe. Thanks
Hi Kim,
McKenzies Bakery recipes are one of the most popular requests that I get. As a result, I have a page devoted to them. See:
McKenzies Bakery
As you can see on that page, I have the petit fours listed under “no luck”, which means that I have searched for that recipe in the past with no success.
I searched again today, and still had no success.
McKenzies sold many, if not all, of their recipes to Tastee Donuts, and some of the Tastee’s locations have begun serving them. They are bringing the McKenzies products back a few at a time,
and I do not know if the petit fours are among the ones that they sell currently. See:
Buttermilk Drops are Back!
and:
Tastee McKenzies
There is a Facebook page called “Bring Back McKenzies Bakery” at:
Bring Back McKenzies Bakery
That might be a good place to ask about the petit fours.

I'd love it if you could find a recipe the mimics Birdseye's Viola Cheesey Chicken as well as Hormel's Beef Tips 'N' Gravy.
This is my direct email to respond to.
Thanks you!

Hello Victoria,
Remember to please send each request in it’s own e-mail.
Birdseye makes several of the “Voila” skillet dinner products. Here are descriptions of the relevant ones:
Cheesy Chicken Family Size
Pasta with White chicken in a cheese sauce with broccoli, carrots & corn.
Cheesy Ranch Chicken
Tender white chicken, broccoli florets, corn and carrots in a creamy ranch and cheddar cheese sauce.
Three Cheese Chicken
Pasta in a Three Cheese Sauce with Broccoli, Grilled Seasoned White Chicken, Corn and Carrots
Garlic Chicken
Pasta in a garlic sauce and grilled seasoned white chicken with broccoli, corn and carrots.
I am speculating that you mean the “Cheesy Chicken Family Size”. There are requests for copycat recipes for these in several places on the web, with very little success.
The only one that I can find an actual copycat recipe for is the garlic chicken.See:
Voila Garlic Chicken Copycat
There are suggestions given in response to a request for them here:

If you begin with these, perhaps you can create your own copycat for the cheesy chicken.
I’ll reply to you separately regarding the Hormel Beef Tips.
