Subject: Can you please help?
Good Morning,
There used to be a restaurant in Austin TX called Victors. It was an Italian restaurant on Guadalupe
owned by the Nardecia (sp) family. They made the best ravioli I have ever eaten. I have traveled all
over and never found anything even close. It is a very thin pasta filled with a mixture of beef, pork
and spices.
I would die a happy person if you could help me find the recipe. The last I heard, the family had moved
to Houston, TX, but that has been a while.
Thanks for any help you can provide, even if it is a recipe that is close, I can probably tweek it.
Tilly
Hi Tilly,
Victor D Nardecchia had two restaurants, or the same restaurant was in two different locations.
One was on Guadalupe, and the other one was on 23rd street downtown.
There are photos of the one on 23rd on these pages:
Texas History 1
Texas History 2
One or the other or both was called “Victor’s Italian Village Restaurant.”
Someone else posted a request for recipes from Victor’s on this message board in 2014, but has had no success:
Chowhound
There is a Victor’s Restaurant in Houston, but I could not find any connect with the Nardecchia family. See:
Victor's Restaurant Houston
There is also a Victor’s Restaurant in Carrollton, Texas, but again, I could not find any Nardecchia connection
Victor's Carrollton
Victor passed away in the 1960s. One or more of his sons may have opened their own restaurant, but I could not find anything.
Victor’s cousin, Bud Nardecchia, was also an Italian cook. His wife has posted some of Bud’s recipes here:
Bud's Kitchen
Sorry, no ravioli recipe. You might could write to her, though. Her contact information should be on her blog.
Tilly, I could not find a ravioli recipe that claimed to taste like Victor’s. No one, including myself, could recommend a recipe
as being similar if they had never tasted Victor’s ravioli.
I’ll post this for reader input.

Subject: Cushmans cake recipes
Dear sirs. Is there anyway I can get a copy of cushmans cake recipes, the
cakes of my childhood. I would appreciate any help you can send me. Thankyou
Rina
Hi Rina,
My page on Cushman's Bakery is here: Cushman's Bakery
I have been doing this site for over 16 years now, and I receive at least
one request every year for a Cushman's Bakery recipe. I have never found but
one, the one for Scotch cookies. As far as I know, Cushman's recipes
disappeared when they were bought out by Oakhurst Dairy in Maine. There are
still no Cushman's recipes on the Internet, and I have never found any clues
about a Cushman's recipe book. Sorry.
