I need a recipe for donuts. I used to have a betty crocker cookbok
that had all my favorite recipies in it, but unfortunately the book
is lost. These donuits, all you have to do, is mix ingredients together,
roll out, cut out and fry in hot oil. I have been searching search
engines all day, but I havent been able to find one yet that doesnt take
yeast, or have to raise, or chill. If you could find me this recipie,
I would be etrnally grateful. Thank you. K

Hi Carol,
Well, the only kind of frosting that I can think of that would be harder
would be "Royal Frosting". There are two recipes below for that. Please use
"Just Whites" instead of raw egg whites to avoid any possibility of food
poisoning. Those raw eggs can have salmonella. "Just Whites" are
pasteurized, so there's no danger with them.
Phaed
Royal Frosting
Ingredients :
3 egg whites (Use "Just Whites")
1 pkg. confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation :
Beat Egg whites and cream of tartar until foamy in small bowl.
Slowly beat in confectioners' sugar until frosting stands in firm
peeks and is stiff enough to hold a sharp line when cut through with
knife. Keep bowl covered with damp paper towel while working to
keep frosting from drying out. Store leftover frosting in tightly
covered jar in refrigerator.
----------------------------------
Royal Frosting
Ingredients :
2 egg whites (use "Just Whites")
1 tsp. lemon juice
3 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation :
Beat egg whites and lemon juice until foamy. Beat in sugar
until frosting stands in firm peaks.

Hi Debbie,
No recipe called "pastiche" comes up either on the Internet or in my database. It's not in any of my food dictionaries, either.
"Pastiche" can mean a lot of things. It's similar to "olio" and "potpourri" in that it just means several ingredients thrown together.
I've never seen it used in reference to icing. However, I do find some recipes for decorative frosting. See below.
Actually, your description sounds more like "marzipan."
