Good morning, first of all you have the most fabulous site I've ever seen.
Thanks so very much.
I am looking for a recipe that is old, perhaps from the early 70's.
The Mango Pie I had in a small hotel in Mexico near where the film
"Treasure of Sierra Madre" was shot. ;;OH my, I can still taste it.
Best,
good health and kindness.

Hello Lauren,
Well, I am afraid that your information about where you had the pie is far too slim to allow me even a hope of finding the recipe.
The "IMDB" website gives 22 locations (not all were in Mexico, though) that were used in filming "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". John Huston actually traveled through 8,000 miles of Mexico looking for suitable locations for the film. For a list, see: "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" locations
I did find several statements that the main street scenes were filmed in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, so perhaps that is where your hotel was located. It might be of immense help if you could tell me the name of the hotel/restaurant itself. I cannot find a recipe from a particular restaurant without knowing the name of the restaurant. I did look for mango pie recipes from Tampico and from the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico in English and in Spanish but I had no success.
There are mango pie recipes on these sites, but they give no indication of being from a hotel in Mexico:
Creamy Mango Pie
No-Cook Mango Pie
Pay de Mango Frio

I will post this for reader input.
