Subject: French dressing
I am searching for a recipe for French dressing that was on the salad bar at
Horn and Horn cafeteria-style restaurants in the Maryland area that operated
in the 80's-90's.
This was a very unique French dressing with a creamy base and a more savory
dressing, not sweet like a Catalina French dressing is. They also had a
reduced calorie Green Goddess that was very good.
I know the same dressings were available at White Coffee, Jr. Restaurants in
the area as well. I am sure the two restaurants were connected in some way.
Can you help me find the recipes for these two tasty salad dressings? Any
information you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Cacza,
The correct name of the diner was White Coffee Pot Jr. There was also a
White Coffee Pot Inn. Yes, they were owned by the same people who owned Horn
& Horn restaurants in Maryland.
I had no success finding these recipes. There are several requests on
various message boards for the French Dressing, the Golden Goddess Dressing,
and the "house dressing" recipes from these places.
Some of the requests have been posted for two or three years and no one has
responded. That's a pretty good sign that those recipes are not available.
It's always possible that a former employee of one of those places might
read my site and be able to help. Keep checking the site.

Subject: Cushman's Bakery Recipes
I saw that you have found some Cushman’s Bakery recipes, and I was wondering if you might be able to find their recipe
for apricot filled cookies. I’m sure you have heard about everyone’s favorites, we all loved these, but there are
unfortunately no substitutes for these. (I’ve tried). So if you could find this recipe, we would be forever grateful.
Thank You Jay
Hello Jay,
Searching for Cushman’s Bakery recipes has been a great disappointment for me. In fourteen years of searching,
the only Cushman’s recipe that I have ever found is the Scotch cookies recipe. Now I will have to add the
“apricot filled cookies” to the “not found” list. All I found was a couple of mentions of them – not a hint of a recipe.
There are other recipes on the web for “apricot filled cookies”, but since I never had Cushman’s cookies,
I could not recommend any of them as being similar to Cushman’s apricot filled cookies.
