Chicken Broaster

someone getting out of the restaurant business donated a flavor
crisp chicken pressure cooker to our vfw post and we are looking
for any information on how to operate the broaster tnx

Hi Mike,

Gosh, this is tough. These broasters are usually sold as a franchise deal. You buy the broaster and the ingredients for the chicken batter from a company like Flavor Crisp, and they come in and teach you how to operate it. I wasn't able to find any instructions online, and I couldn't find a website for Flavor Crisp.

Here's a Flavor Crisp franchise:

Walt's Flavor Crisp Chicken 527 Vandever Ave,
Wilmington, DE 19802-4240 Phone: (302)658-1803

My suggestion is to call them and talk to the manager - "Walt", I guess. Maybe he can help you or can point you to someone who can. There are no "broasted chicken recipes" on the web that I can find.

  Dear Uncle Phaedrus,

I have enjoyed MAXIM instant coffee for years, suddenly I can't
  find it anywhere.
Can you tell me where I can buy more MAXIM instant coffee?

Also, I have a 15 year old grapevine that I want to transplant.
Can you tell me the best way to safely accomplish this feat?
If not, can you direct me to someone knowledgeable in these matters?

  Thank you.

  Best regards,

  Basil

Hello Basil,

Kraft still lists Maxim on their product list. It probably wasn't selling well enough in your area for the wholesaler to continue carrying it. You can buy it online at this site:
Kraft
or by phone at:
"You can phone our Kraft/NetGrocer team and they would be happy to place an order for you. They can be reached at 888-849-5612 from 8:00am-5:00pm Eastern time."

As for the grapevine, I know nothing about them and could find little online, but the grape growers have their own message board. It's at:
Grapes R Us
You will need to join Yahoo Groups and get a password, but it's free.

  Hi Phaedrus

A friend has asked for a recipe of the above but I have never heard
of it myself. I was wondering if perhaps you may have a recipe for
pineapple biscuits or maybe someone you know.

  Thanks for your help.

  Charmaine

Hi Charmaine,

I have recipes for pineapple biscuits in which "biscuit" means American style baking powder biscuits. Those are below.

If you mean, however, the British - Australian type of biscuit, which we Americans call a "cookie", then it becomes more difficult.
I found a picture of a commercial "pineapple biscuit" sold in Australia, but that was a sandwich-type cookie with pineapple flavored creme filling. I'm sending you a couple of American pineapple cookie recipes. If those aren't what your friend wants, then I'll need a more detailed description of what your friend means by "pineapple biscuit" in order to locate it.

When I was little, my Grandma made the best home-made taco shells.
She fried them, but I can't find the "tool" or "utensil" she used.
I remember it folded over the tortilla to make the shape right.
I have been searching for quite some time, and no one seems to know
where to find one. Do you know?

Hi Apryl,

Well Apryl, to make a folded taco shell while frying a round tortilla is an art. The Mexicans do it by hanging the hot fried tortilla over a wooden spoon and then letting it cool. Many skillful chefs who do their own can do it without any kind of aid, just by frying one side and then folding it and then frying the outside. There is something called a "taco form" for those of us who aren't quite so skilled. I found mention of a "taco form" on the Internet, and Amazon.com has one:
