Subject: Soup - Jerry's Deli, Woodland Hills, CA
Hi there Phaedrus, and happy holidays to you. About a month ago, we had lunch on a Sunday at Jerry's Deli on Ventura Blvd,
in Woodland Hills, CA. They had a mushroom barley soup, which I can't remember for sure if it had any beef in it or not.
It was so good, I wish I lived closer so I could eat it more often. Would you have a recipe close to theirs? I checked
in the index, but the two listed weren't close to the one at Jerry's. Any help sure would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Marsha
Hi Marsha,
I do not have, nor was I able to find, a mushroom barley soup recipe from Jerry’s Deli or one that claimed to taste like theirs.
I found many mentions of it, but no recipes or even a detailed description. With so little information, coupled with the fact
that I have never eaten at Jerry’s Deli and have no idea of what their mushroom barley soup is like, I am unable to choose a
mushroom barley soup recipe and recommend it as being similar to Jerry’s.
However, the sole clue that I was able to garner from my search was that Jerry’s is a Jewish Deli, and based on that,
I am sending you some Jewish Deli mushroom barley soup recipe links:

Epicurious 2
Hopefully one of those will be similar, but you’ll have to determine that. I’ll post this on the site for reader input.

Subject: Recipe for True Blue Ice Cream
Hello,
I am looking for a recipe for an ice cream my family would get in the 1970’s at the local mall in Houma, Louisiana,
at the Woolsworth and Woolco store. It was called “True Blue” ice cream and it was light blue in color and tasted
something like pistachio flavored ice cream (but without the nuts). I’ve searched several times with Google, but the
only thing I come up with is a comment from someone in New Orleans who remembers eating the same thing (the link to that is below).
Thanks for any help in getting this and I will definitely send it in if I ever do get it myself because it was delicious.

Hi Donna,
The comments on that message board are the only mention that I can find of it. I’ll post this for reader input.
