I am a long time reader and appreciator of your site.  By chance, can you
find the recipe of Hodak’s fried chicken. It is on Gravois Rd. in St. Louis.

Many thanks, Michael

Hello Michael,

Sorry, I didn't have any success locating a recipe or a copycat recipe or a tastes-like recipe for Hodak's fried chicken. I also looked unsuccessfully for Fergie's fried chicken, because they claim to have Hodak's original recipe. The Hodak family claims to have kept their recipe for cornmeal-crusted fried chicken a secret since 1961, and it appears that they have been successful.

I found a lot of reviews  and articles about Hodak's chicken, most positive, but a few that said it was under-seasoned, but I did not find anything like a recipe.

I would speculate that the crust is probably a mixture of cornmeal and flour. There are some cornmeal crusted chicken recipes on the web, but none that even mention Hodak's except for this page: Narkive
Don't be misled - the person posting that recipe doesn't claim it tastes like Hodak's - they're just making a suggestion to the writer of the article. The recipe sounds like it's worth a try, though.

I'll post this for reader input.
