I guess that you can't recall the name of the cake?
I cannot find any cake recipes at all from Kaunas Bakery, which was owned by Peter Barkus, or from Barkus Bakery, which was owned by his son, Leo Barkus.
I had no success looking for a cake recipe that fits your description at all.
I'll post this for reader input.
