If possible, I would like to communicate with him directly. I grew up in Merrick, Long Island, NY, which is the town right next to Freeport where the Texas Ranger restaurant was/is located. I would like to ask Mike about the information he said he had in his response to you. If you can provide his contact information to my e-mail I would really appreciate it. Or he can contact me if that’s preferable. I practically lived at this restaurant when I was in high school and would love any information about how to create the special sauce they made. Thank you so much for your help.
Hi Susan,
I wish I could help you, but I lost all of the email addresses before 2018 in a computer crash. I have no contact information for Mike.

I hate to be a pain, but maybe if you post a request for anyone with information Mike will respond. I'm not on any social media sites. If you can and you get a response, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for your help. Susan
Hi Susan,
Yes, I will post your request, although I won't post your email address publicly - If I did that, the Spammers would swarm on it. It will be 19 days or so before it appears, as I practice "first received - first posted."
Mike's post, which has instructions to make the dressing for the cabbage, is at: 1-14-2011
The thing that everyone is lacking is the chili recipe.
In case you didn't know, The Texas Ranger was reopened in Freeport in about 2014 by some of the family members, and it appears to be still in business.
They have a website at: The Texas Ranger and a Facebook page at: The Texas Ranger on FB

Hi, Phaed. Thanks so much for your information. Sorry it's taken three days for me to respond. I actually called the place not too long ago and spoke to someone named Sam, practically pleading with him to send me the recipe. I explained that I grew up with Rangerburgers and was "jonesing" for the taste. I even told him I would sign anything he wanted stating that I would not sell or distribute the recipe and if I did he could take legal action against me. I just wanted to enjoy it myself. Since I'm in Ohio and they're on Long Island, I couldn't get there to enjoy a Rangerburger in person. Bottom line, I got nowhere. I'm going to try looking at Mike's post. Thanks so much for reaching out to me. Susan --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Texas Ranger sauce From: Susan K. I revisited an email exchange between you and a couple of other people (Joe, Mike) regarding the special sauce used on the burgers at the Texas Ranger in Freeport, New York, and am interested in whether you were ever able to find a definitive recipe (with actual ingredient amounts) for this sauce. I grew up in Merrick which is the town right next to the Texas Ranger, and practically lived in that restaurant just for their special sauce burgers. Please let me know if you've had any luck finding this recipe. Thank you so much. Susan K
Hi Susan,
Sorry, I've not had any success with this recipe. Everything I've ever found is on these pages:
Lots of discussion about Texas Ranger on these pages:
I don't know if this place - on Atlantic in Freeport - is even open now. There are no recent posts on their Facebook page. They got mixed reviews on their food. Some folks said their sauce was exactly the same as the old Texas Ranger, but just as many said their sauce was terrible and not the same at all:
