Hi Vivian,

Is this a recipe that you had and lost, or is it a dish that you had at a restaurant or elsewhere? Where did you have it? If at a restaurant, which restaurant and where was it located? This is the kind of information that helps me find recipes.

It was at Hot Shoppes restaurants in the early to mid 1970s.

 Thanks

Hi Vivian,

Sorry, I had no success with this recipe search.  I looked at photos of a half dozen Hot Shoppes menus that can be found on the Internet, but not one of them had any London Broil dish listed. I cannot find any textual mention of London Broil being served at Hot Shoppes. I have a copy of the "Hot Shoppes Cookbook" that was published in 1987, and there is no recipe for London Broil in it. The only mentions that I can find at all of a dish called "London Broil with Sherry Mushroom Sauce " are on the menus of a couple of catering companies. I did find a couple of recipes or mentions of simply "London Broil with Mushroom Sauce", but they did not have sherry and they were not Hot Shoppes recipes.

If you had this dish at Hot Shoppes, it must have been a non-menu special, I think. It certainly doesn't sound like a typical Hot Shoppes menu item,

I have a dedicated Hot Shoppes page here: Hot Shoppes

There is a Facebook Group called "Friends of the Mighty Mo and Hot Shoppes."
If you join that group and post a question about this dish, you might get some info about it there.

I will post this for reader input.

Thank you for searching for this recipe. It definitely was at Hot Shoppes
at Capital Plaza which was located in Prince George’s County, MD.
It may have been their special and it was delicious.

I’ve tried a number of London broil recipes with mushroom sherry sauce
from the internet and none compared. I can easily see why the recipe
can’t be found - it was from 50 years ago and, as you mentioned,
it could have been a special.

Again, thanks for your efforts.
