Hi,

Thank you for identifying the Velatis candy for another customer.
I remember it from my childhood and understand her excitement at
discovering the candy again!

Do you have a recipe that duplicates the candy? In particular the
"sugared" version of the caramels? I have tried doctoring a number
of caramel recipes and while everyone eats them, they just aren't
right.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Catherine

Hi Catherine,

Sorry, I do not have and could not find a recipe or a "copycat" or a "tastes-like" for them.

There is an article here about someone who has the original recipe and who sells them under the name "Salvatore's Italian Caramels":

Washington Post

I'll post this for reader input

Apparently Vatores doesn't exist any more. The address is not a Mexican restaurant
and the name redirects to Velatis.
