My grandma would take me to their location by Macy's in the city in the early '70s. I would always get a tuna salad sandwich and whatever they did to it, I still remember it 50 plus years later. One of my very favorite memories. Anyway, if you have any clue what the recipe is, I would be unbelievably thankful. Have a great day, Valerie
Hi Valerie,
I wish I had that recipe. When I began doing this website, I got a number of requests for Chock Full O' Nuts recipes: date nut bread, whole wheat donuts, etc. We had the coffee, of course, in the South, but that's all that I knew about Chock. I finally found the date nut bread recipe (possibly a copycat), but I was never able to find any of the others. When I finally managed to go to NYC, in about 2010 or so, one of the first things I did was to find the nearest Chock Full O' Nuts to my hotel and go there for lunch. I'm a fan of tuna salad sandwiches, so that's what I ordered. It was excellent.
There may still be a Chock shop in Brooklyn. Their menu is online. They still have tuna salad on the menu: Chock Menu
I searched again today, but I still failed to find the tuna salad recipe or any other Chock recipes. Sorry.
I have a Chock Full 'O Nuts page here:Chock Full O' Nuts
The date nut bread recipe is here: Chock Date Nut Bread
I'll post this for reader input. Someone might have a "copycat recipe" or know of a "tastes-like."
