Please help me find the Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread recipe.
They have discontinued the product and now they only have the Garden
Vegetable Cheese Spread.  I see recipes for that all over the internet,
I can't find anything legitimate for this specific product.  Also, do
you reply if you find the recipe? Or does one just keep looking on
your site regularly for the new listing?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Corty,

I respond to every honest request via email and I also post most requests and my replies.

Well, I did not have any success finding a recipe for "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread."

I did find a bit of discussion about it, but what I found was confusing. I didn't find a clear statement that Hickory Farms had discontinued "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread."  I didn't find anything that indicated that "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread" and "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Cheese Spread" were different products. The packages for both say "carrots, celery, and onions.......with a touch of real cream." It might be that when they changed the packaging, they simply added "cheese" to the name and began to emphasize the fact that it was made with cream cheese.  "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Cheese Spread" contains cream cheese, but I could not find any evidence that "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread" did not contain cream cheese. Most products of this type do contain cream cheese, whether the word "cheese" is in their name or not. If you have evidence that "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread" did not contain cream cheese , please send it to me or point me to it.

There is a photo of the old "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Spread" square package here: Twitter
Note the label: "carrots, celery, and onions with a touch of real cream.

There is a photo of the new, round package "Hickory Farms Garden Vegetable Cheese Spread" here: Hickory Farms
Note the label: "carrots, celery, and onions with a touch of real cream."

On that same page, at the bottom, is a comment that the product in the new package tastes different: Hickory Farms

To wit:

I bought my first container of the year of the garden vegetable spread and it looks and tastes like they have changed the recipe. I normally keep my freezer stocked with this spread but I don't like the new one at all. Has the recipe changed?

We are sorry to hear our Garden Vegetable Cheese Spread is not how you remember it. The packaging has been updated, but the recipe hasn't changed.

It's always possible that Hickory Farms changed the recipe and kept it quiet. It would not be the first time that a company has done such. However, I could not find any evidence of such a change, and I could not find a recipe for either version.

Also note this previous post regarding "Swiss Colony Incredible Spreadable Garden Vegetable Spread", which is a similar product: 7-26-2018

I'll post this for reader input.

I am so thankful and so impressed by your response! I was hoping I might get
lucky for next year! I appreciate your efforts so very much!

I did want to let you know that the product has changed...the cheese spread is not
even the same color and is much thicker. The owner of the Hickory Farms kiosk
nearest us told us that the product had been discontinued...I do not have anything
else I can point to regarding that other than her statement. She has added though
that there have been literally hundreds of people complaining to her that the two
are not the same spread and she said the original spread was one of her top-selling
items each year. As a matter of fact, she said it usually sold out very early
(which I can attest to!).

I did take note of the recipe you sent that sounded similar, but the radish and
green bell pepper may have to be changed or even eliminated to match the original.

I reached out to Hickory Farms as well. I will let you know if they send me
anything of note.

Thanks again, I have already started bragging about your site and your fantastic
efforts on our behalf!
