Can you find the recipe for BLACK'S BARBEQUE SAUCE??

Hi Jeanne,

First, a little back-story...

The original Black's Barbecue in Lockhart, Texas and now in other locations, has been operated by the Black Family since 1932. Their signature sauce, "Norma Black's Barbecue Sauce", is described like this: "Bursting with smoky flavor cut with sharp cumin and anise notes...".  However, they also offer "pepper" barbecue sauces: "Black's Barbecue Pepper Sauce", "Black's Barbecue Chipotle Mustard Pepper Sauce", and "Black's Barbecue Habanero Pepper Sauce".

Of course, as is almost always the case, the actual recipe for "Norma Black's Barbecue Sauce" or any of the others, is a closely kept secret. Other than the above description, I could not find a clue about it. It doesn't appear that anyone has been able to make a copycat recipe for it, and I found no recommendations of a "tastes-like" recipe for it. You can buy it at any of the restaurant locations and online at their website: Black's BBQ

In 2014, two members of the Black family struck out on their own, opening  "Terry Black's Barbecue" in Austin and naming it after their father. See: Black's BBQ vs Terry Black's BBQ

I have no idea how close "Terry Black's Barbecue Sauce" is to "Norma Black's Barbecue Sauce", but you can buy it from Amazon.  I found no recipes, copycats, or tastes-likes for "Terry Black's Barbecue Sauce". See: Terry Black's BBQ

I'll post this in case one of my readers can recommend a "tastes-like"recipe.
