Hello Leisa,
I have a Rich's specific page here: Rich's Department Store
I was not able to find a recipe for Rich's chocolate icing. I have a recipe for "Rich's Bakeshop Icing" here: 05-21-2007
It's probably a copycat and it's vanilla, not chocolate, but you could perhaps convert it. I cannot verify that it is the same icing that was on their yellow cake and birthday cakes.
I was told by a Rich's Bakeshop holiday manager that many, if not all, of Rich's cakes were were baked by Danco Bakery Distributors and delivered frozen to the individual stores. That makes it difficult to find any actual recipes for the cakes Rich's sold.
I found Rich's yellow cake icing described as being "royal icing" on a message board and also as like "Crisco decorator icing." I could not verify that elsewhere.
