Hi Ginger,
No way to follow me except to check the new posts on my site once a week or so.
I did not find any "saucy meatballs" recipe that said it was from the Heinz 57 bottle. However, I did find a "saucy meatballs" recipe that called for Heinz 57 sauce. It's posted on the web half a dozen times with very slight variations. I think that this is probably the recipe from the bottle, but no way to be sure. See below.
Phaed
Saucy Meatballs Ingredients: 1 lb of lean ground beef 2/3 cup of grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup of seasoned dry bread crumbs 1/2 cup of milk 1 egg, beaten 2 tbsp of shortening 1 tbsp of flour 1 (28 oz.) can of tomatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces 1/3 to 1/2 cup of Heinz 57 Sauce 1 tbsp of sugar Hot buttered noodles Instructions: ------------ Combine the first five ingredients. Shape into approximately 20 meatballs using a rounded tablespoon for each. Brown well in shortening. Drain excess fat. Sprinkle flour over meatballs; stir gently to coat meatballs. Combine tomatoes, Heinz 57 sauce, sugar and salt. Pour over meatballs. Simmer uncovered for 25 minutes or until sauce is desired consistency, stirring occasionally. Serve meatballs and sauce over noodles. Yield: 5 servings (about 3 cups of sauce)
