Hi. I am looking for a cookie recipe. The cookie is called, “Divinity”.
This is not a request for the candy, but for a cookie. It is a very
white delicate cookie, sometimes baked with mini chocolate chips or
pecans and is made with Sweetex. It is in the shape of a Hershey's’s
chocolate kiss.

I have seen this cookie at only a very few bakeries and specialty markets:
Lucci’s Deli/bakery in Huntington Beach, CA, Gelson’s Bakery (Victor Bene bakery),
and French’s Bakery in Irvine, CA

  Hi Marcella,

Well, bakery recipes are problematic. I never see bakery recipes on the web that actually come from the bakery. I've seen a few attempts at copycat recipes for some bakery products, but very, very few.

Searching for the bakeries you name, I found these sites:

Lots of photos of Lucci's food, but none of divinity cookies. A few mentions of the divinity cookies in reviews of the place. See: Lucci's Deli

This is a menu from Viktor Benes Bakery. Lots of cookies listed, but not divinity cookies. See: Viktor Benes Bakery

There are a lot of photos of French's Bakery's products here, but no divinity cookies. See: French's Bakery Irvine

I've never been to any of those bakeries nor have I seen divinity cookies in a bakery. I am a bit unsure of the differences between divinity candy, divinity meringues, and divinity cookies.

There are a lot of recipes on the Internet (not bakery recipes) for divinity cookies. None seem to be in the shape of a Hershey's kiss, and none call for Sweetex. Here are a couple of examples:

Chocolate Chip Divinity Cookies

Divinity Cookies

I'll post this for reader input.

Hi Marcella,

I just received an e-mail form someone who says that your "divinity cookies" are the same thing as "meringue kisses". She says:

I was reading this morning's request and saw this. This happens to be my sister's favorite cookie. They are also called meringue kisses. There's lots of recipes for them online. As with this lady, my sister's favorite has chocolate chips in them. I hope you find this helpful.

I found several recipes for "meringue kisses". Let me know what you think:
