Uncle Phaedrus,

Wanted your input from requests you have seen over the years.
Looking for a creamy peanut butter fudge like you find at the
State Fair, or a boardwalk on vacation.

Also is there a favorite Chocolate Chip cookie recipe?
Or any other suggestions that come to mind...

Thank you!!
Al

Hi Al,

Well, I don't make recommendations, Al. I haven't cooked or even tasted 95% of the recipes I have found for people, so I wouldn't know which ones are best, and I have no favorites. The only thing I can say is that the recipes on my site were requested by someone who must have thought they were good. I've eaten quite a lot of chocolate chip cookies over the years, but I have no idea of a particular recipe that was especially tasty. Sorry. I see these recipe requests as mysteries, and my interest is in locating the correct recipe, not in how good they are.

As for the fudge,  I'm not particularly a fan of fudge, and I cannot recall ever eating any fair fudge or boardwalk fudge, so I know little about them. I did searches for "fair fudge", "state fair fudge", "county fair fudge", and "boardwalk fudge".  Fudge is sold at fairs by vendors and there are also fudge recipe competitions for blue ribbons. Boardwalk fudge is usually sold by vendors. I found very little in the way of recipes for fair vendor peanut butter fudge or for boardwalk peanut butter fudge, although I found a lot of mentions of vendor fudges. There appears to be a lot of variety, since fair and boardwalk vendors try to top each other with new kinds of fudge.

It might help a bit to know at which boardwalks and which fairs you have bought the fudge you want a recipe for.

There is a recipe here that calls itself "boardwalk fudge":  Summer Memories

I will post this for reader input.

Meanwhile, look at the chocolate chip cookie recipes and fudge recipes on my site and try any that look good to you:

Phaed,

Thank you!! Those lists are huge!! Lol.

Narrowing down boardwalks I will look in your list. A lot of people claim the
best fudge is on Mackinac Island fudge.

Then there on the island:

Original Murdick's Fudge.
Joann's Fudge.
Ryba's Fudge Shops.

So I can look through your list and see if any are listed. Or if Mackinac island shows up.

Thanks,
Al

Hi Al,

The actual fudge recipes of those Mackinac Island shops are secret. No one outside the owners of those shops appears to have them.

However, there are plenty of copycat/tastes-like recipes for Mackinac Island fudge. See these:
