Uncle Phaedrus,

Thank you for your site.

My family grew up in Dallas, TX.  During the 1970's, we LOVED to dine at
the Bavarian Restaurant on Central Expressway in Dallas.
They served some of the finest food.

Several of our favorites were:
Tempura or light flour-fried shelled Lobster Tail
RosO-Baked potatoes
Fried whole soft-shell Blue Crab
Baked Apple Dumpling

Any of these recipes would be great to have!
Thanks for your help.

Hi Dena,

I can't find any mention of Bavarian Steakhouse or Bavarian Restaurant on Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas, either online or in any of my printed references. Puzzling.

I'll post this on my site. Maybe one of my readers can help.

There definitely was a Bavarian Steakhouse on Central Expressway. In 1974 I
took the young woman I would later marry there on our first date. We were
married in 1975 and we’re still together today. We both remember that wonderful
first date at Bavarian Steakhouse just like it was yesterday. It was a great
place and we went there many times. One of our other favorites was Caruso’s
where the very talented waiters and waitresses would sing Broadway show tunes.

Hi David,

It turns out that the issue was in the spelling of the restaurant's name. I recently received an e-mail from the owner's (Jack Park's) daughter. She explained that the name of the restaurant was "BOvarian Steakhouse", not "BAvarian Steakhouse", and she sent photos to prove it. Her father, Jack Park, made up the name by combining "Bovine" and "Bavarian into "Bovarian". An easy thing to get confused.

Well how about that!! Thank you for the correction. And wow, look at those
prices! I had forgotten about that too. It was a great place with great food.
