Sorry, I have never had the Van de Kamp mocha chocolate cake recipe. I have searched for it before with no success and likewise I had no success today.

While I have your attention, Kathryn, any chance you have and would share the recipe for VDK’s mocha cake? It was my all time favorite. I use to have it at all my birthdays. It really confused my young friends at my parties. I can still remember the joy after more than 50 years of eating that cake!

The cakes are in a complicated commercial format with many ingredients that are blends from other recipes, and some ingredients are not available anymore. It's tricky to test. There's also help, space, equipment and other factors to consider. Sorry I can't help at this time!
It is not always easy and it can be a lengthy trial-and-error process to reduce and convert a complex bakery recipe to a home recipe format. Posting a request to Kathryn Van de Kamp's Facebook page or to George Geary is your best chance of getting that recipe.
