Hello,
I am looking for a rice pudding recipe from Donaldson's Department store
which used to be located in Minneapolis.
It had a layer of custard on top and was served cut in squares.
Thank you so much.

Hi Sharon,
Sorry, I had no success finding this recipe. Wasn't the restaurant in the store called "North Shore Grill?"
I will post this for reader input.

Dear Uncle Phaedrus,
Thank you for featuring my request for the rice
pudding recipe from the old Donaldson's Department
store in Minneapolis.
After contacting you I continued my research. I
suspected that I had copied the recipe from the
Minneapolis Star and Tribune so I bought a
subscription and was able to find the recipe in their
archives.
This was originally published on June 27, 1973. I
would highly recommend this recipe to any of your
rice pudding lover readers.
Donaldson Department Store's Rice Pudding
3 cups cooked rice
3/4 cup seedless raisins
8 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 qt. hot milk (6 cups)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 T. vanilla
Few drops yellow food coloring
Nutmeg to taste
Place rice and raisins in 9 x 12 x 2 inch oblong pan. Combine beaten eggs,
milk, sugar, vanilla and coloring. Pour egg mixture in pan. Sprinkle with
nutmeg. Bake in a pan of water at 325 degrees 1 hour.
Thank you so much for your assistance; I really enjoy
your blog.
