Lenhardt's "liver dumplings" are mentioned. The lady was looking for a
schnitzel recipe, but she mentioned liver dumplings. Lenhardt's is in
Cincinnati. Can you find the dumplings recipe?

Carl

Hello Carl,

She mentioned three recipes from a book, and I believe I also have the cookbook to which she referred. It's "A Taste of Ohio History" by Debbie Nunley and Karen Jane Elliott. The Lenhardt's "liver dumplings" recipe from it is below.

Phaed

Lenhardt's Liver Dumplings

1 pound chicken livers
1 onion
6 cloves garlic
1 large egg
4 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons breadcrumbs
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Grind livers, onion, and garlic through a meat grinder into a large bowl. Add
egg, flour, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Stir well to blend. Drop dumpling
mixture by the teaspoon into boiling water. Reduce heat and continue to boil
for 15 minutes until done. Yields approximately 2 dozen dumplings.
