Dear Uncle P. - - -
I am searching for a recipe for peach chutney. It was in a large-format magazine-style
publication on canning (and possibly other kinds of preserving but I am not sure).
I probably bought it in 1976 - definitely made it that year. I sort of think it was
from Consumer Reports but that seems pretty unlikely so I have to say I don't really
remember who produced it.
The recipe included the following ingredients:
peaches
green peppers
onions
raisins (I think)
mustard seeds
white sugar
brown sugar
vinegar
probably some additional spices.
It was cooked on the stove and then processed in canning jars in a water bath canner.
It was delicious !!
Please do your best -
Thanks - Maureen
Hi Maureen,
A bit of searching shows me that the ingredients that you list are common ones, found in dozens of peach chutney
recipes with slight variations. However, I could not find one that exactly matches your list, with no hot peppers
and with both white and brown sugar. Without knowing the name of the publication from which you got it, I see no
way forward except for posting this for reader input. There are similar recipes on these sites:
