I reminisce quite often about the chocolate mocha cake served at Darryl’s restaurant
(North Carolina) and given to a birthday guest with a candle.
Would love any help locating it!
Sorry, I cannot find any mention at all of a chocolate mocha cake served at a Darryl's Restaurant
in North Carolina. I found some menus for restaurants with the name "Darryl's", but none of them
had a dessert called "chocolate mocha cake." There appears to have been a "Darryl's Restaurant"
chain at one time, but it apparently closed years ago. These are the NC restaurants with that name
that I found:
Darryl's Wood Fired Grill - Greensboro
Darryl's BBQ - Rockwell
Darryl's Seafood Restaurant - Manteo
Darryl's Restaurant - Raleigh
You didn't state a particular city.
There are several "chocolate mocha cake" recipes on the web, but I have no way to determine if any
of them might be similar to the one you ask about.
I'll post this for reader input.

Thank you so much for taking the time to research my request. In order to provide
you with more information, I went online to see which Darryl’s was the chain of
which I wrote. Turns out, it IS the “Wood Fired” one in Greensboro and it is still
open. So...I was able to glance at their menu, found the name of the cake (see above)
and lo and behold someone has recreated the recipe. I am including the link for you
to share on your page. If you read the comments, you will see that many have the same
fond birthday celebration memories of this cake as me!
Thank you for running this page - it is a gem!
That's great news! Thank you for sending me the link for the benefit of others.
