Sorry, I could not find a recipe for Horn & Hardart's Hamburger Steak and gravy.  I did find a comment that it was fried in lard. The gravy is referred to as "vegetable gravy" on menus, but I could not find anything about it.

In checking articles about Horn & Hardart and scans of H & H menus, I found three dishes that someone might call "hamburger steak." I could not find recipes for any of them. Below is what I found:

Sorry, I do not have this recipe, and I don't think it is available. I searched for the H & H Hamburger Steak/Salisbury Steak recipe in 2019 with no success, and I searched again today with similar lack of success. I have never been able to locate a copy of a recipe pamphlet from H & H from the Daily News or elsewhere.
